Hey Everyone,

Time for a personal post today. My little daughter, Harper, turned three on Feb 7. Everyone says this, but I really can’t believe how fast the time has flown. She is an unbelievable source of joy for Brooke and me and is quickly transforming into this little strong-willed, determined, bright, hilarious, and energetic little wonder of a girl. How’s that for proud “Daddy Bird” (one of my many nickname) speak. Brooke made all of the preparations for her birthday party this year which ended up being an art themed affair. The first part of the event was to be dancing and gymnastics and Harper wanted nothing to do with it. Seems she was not the center of attention so she decided to camp out under the administrative desk. I felt so bad for Brooke but she handled it well and ultimately Harper snapped out of it and enjoyed all that Brooke had put together. I, of course, took plenty of pictures, some of which I’ve posted below. The balance of the shots can be seen here.

A week later we decided to go for Harper’s 3 Year Old Photo Shoot. I had my doubts as to whether she would cooperate with Dad as the photographer as I’m simply viewed as a live, personal jungle gym by her much of the time but fortunately she went along with the program pretty well. Here are some of those pix and the rest of the shoot can be seen here. Thanks also to Jessi Ringer for helping out. She got some great stuff as well and here is a link to her blog and some of the images she captured.

OK world. I give up. That’s right I’m giving in to the gravitational pull of the universe and starting to blog. I’ve been tinkering with blogging for some time now and even did one for my wife when she was pregnant (here it is). I’ve started and stopped a few photo related blogs for various reasons but this time I’m committing to it. This will be my one and only photo blog and I’ll cover all things in my little photography world including my commercial and personal work. I figure one place for everything is the only way I can actually do this and stay sane. So . . . wish me luck . . . and if you’ve happened by, well thanks for stopping in and I hope you’ll check back often.

With that said, on with the blogging. They always say the hardest part is getting started and the big question for me is what should be my first image. To start this blog off for 2009, I’m going to go with the last image I made in 2008. This image is a personal image of my daughter and really shows how times have changed for me. This was my New Year’s Eve 2008 in a nutshell. No big parties, no hangovers! Just an evening with my wife, daughter and a few close friends. You know you are at a different place in life when you find the wonder of a 2 1/2 year old’s fascination with food color and water fascinating!
